O Conselho de Ministros aprovou um decreto-lei que regulamenta a nova Lei da Nacionalidade (Lei Orgânica n.º 1/2026) e concretiza os novos requisitos de atribuição e aquisição da nacionalidade portuguesa. Segundo o comunicado, o diploma estabelece as condições das provas de conhecimento da língua, cultura, história e instituições portuguesas.The Council of Ministers approved a decree-law regulating the new Nationality Law (Organic Law 1/2026) and setting out the new requirements for granting and acquiring Portuguese nationality. According to the press release, it lays down the conditions for the tests of knowledge of the Portuguese language, culture, history and institutions.

O artigo 14.º, n.º 3, do Decreto-Lei n.º 87-A/2025 atribui ao Ministro da Presidência a coordenação dos atos normativos em matéria de nacionalidade, em coordenação com os ministros dos Negócios Estrangeiros, da Justiça, da Administração Interna e do Trabalho, Solidariedade e Segurança Social. A pasta principal indicada é a da coordenação prevista na lei, não o proponente do diploma, que o comunicado não identifica.Article 14(3) of Decree-Law 87-A/2025 gives the Minister of the Presidency the coordination of legislation on nationality, in coordination with the ministers of Foreign Affairs, Justice, Internal Administration and Labour, Solidarity and Social Security.
